Smart Key Features You May Not Know
Your Land Rover key does more than just lock and unlock. It can also turn on the headlights when you approach. It can fold the mirrors in and out. You can open only the tailgate if you want to load something quickly. If you ever feel unsafe, pressing the panic button will turn on the alarm. There's also a built-in blade key for times when the battery is dead or the fob isn't working.
What If It Still Doesn't Work?
If you've changed the battery but the fob still doesn't respond, your smart key may need to be reprogrammed. You can try it yourself by holding the lock button and turning the key in the door at the same time. Keep turning for a few seconds, then remove the key while still pressing the button. That usually syncs it back. If it doesn't work, it may be time for a visit to the service team.
The "Smart Key Not Found" Message
Sometimes your car might show this message on the dash. It usually means the key fob isn't being picked up. When this happens, there's a backup method. Hold the fob flat against the marked spot on your steering column. Then press the brake, and push the start button. If all is working right, your Land Rover should start like normal.

To help your key fob battery last, try to keep it away from heat and water. Don't leave it in direct sunlight or on the dash. Avoid dropping it. Even though it's small, it controls a lot. A little care can go a long way.
